Mountain View Estates is nestled in the Ramapo Mountains in Suffern, NY.

Suffern offers a variety of recreational activities. There are several smaller parks in the vicinity including Memorial Park and Chestnut Street Park, and Mountain View Estates is only 6 miles from Harriman State Park. Harriman State Park, located in Rockland and Orange counties, is the second-largest park in the parks system, with 31 lakes and reservoirs, 200 miles of hiking trails, three beaches, two public camping areas, a network of group camps, miles of streams and scenic roads and scores of wildlife species, vistas and vantage points. Harriman State Park's major facilities include Lakes Welch, Sebago, Tiorati and Silvermine, the Anthony Wayne Recreation Area, Sebago Cabins and Beaver Pond Campgrounds.

The world renowned Spook Rock Golf course is located just 4 miles from Mountain View Estates. The village also maintains ball fields for little leagues at the Cucolo ball fields and offers a variety of recreation programs for residents young and old. The historic Gazebo is the site of the summer concert series. There is also a Village Community center and local Farmers Market.

Downtown Suffern offers quaint family run shops and restaurants. Lafayette Ave, the "main street" is anchored at one end by the Historic Lafayette Theater, which has been showing movies in grand style since 1924. A walk down Lafayette Avenue reveals an assortment of cafés and restaurants and a variety of retail shops including hair salons, florists, an old fashioned hardware store and bakeries, along with a wide selection of sports, fashion, gift and home retailers.

Mountain View Estates is approximately 1 mile from the Suffern Train Station. The Metro North Port Jervis line offers approximate 1 hour and 15 minute service to Penn Station in New York City, via the Secaucus Junction. The New Jersey Transit provides a bus system to the Port Authority bus station and there are local bus routes that run along Route 202.

Suffern Village is approximately two square miles, and is situated in the Town Of Ramapo in Rockland County. The Village borders Mahwah, New Jersey, as well as the Villages of Airmont, Hillburn and Montebello, New York.

First settled in 1773, the area now known as the Village of Suffern was founded in 1796 as "New Antrium." It was later renamed "Suffern" after John Suffern, the first judge of Rockland County.
